A beautiful double Rose.
Double flowers are mostly a horticultural whim, some occur in the wild but most have been bred to give more wow factor to the garden shrub or plant. So if you want more flower punch then here are some to consider.

Philadelphus ‘Manteau d’ Hermine’
Philadelphus ‘Manteau d’ Hermine’: A small compact shrub up to 1m tall, with dense habit and small mid green leaves, with large clusters of cream white highly scented double flowers in late April to mid May, wonderful for the front of a planting bed next to a path where the scent can really be enjoyed and the white blaze of flowers. Full sun free draining soil.

Camellia japonica ‘Leonard Messel’
Camellia japonica ‘Leonard Messel’: A medium to large slow growing shrub, with a compact habit and emerald green glossy evergreen leaves. Large semi-double clear pink flowers are produced on mass in early spring. Neutral to acidic soil that is humus rich and in semi-shade. If you don’t have the right soil conditions then this camellia would be wonderful in a pot ( with ericaceous compost) near the house where it can be enjoyed.

Syringa ‘Michael Buchner’
Syringa ‘Minchael Buchner’: A medium to large deciduous shrub, with mid green foliage. Large double heads of cone shaped flowers held in clusters or singularly with a delicate lilac blue and a rich heady scent are produced on Mass in mid to late May. Grown on good humus rich free draining soil in full sun. Wonderful in a planting near a path or as a Lilac grove.

Magnolia stellata
Magnolia stellator: Often called the star magnolia, this is a perfect magnolia for the small garden and will even tolerate some chalk. A compact shrub up to about 1.5m in height with mid green leaves. The white scented double start like flowers of produced on bare stems in late March early April. Will grow best on a humus rich soil and not drying out. Full sun to dapple shade. Perfect for a Magnolia lover who does not have the space for something larger.

Fushia ‘Prosperity’
Fuchsia ‘Prosperity’: A beautiful hardy fuchsia, with an upright and bushy habit to 1.2-1.5m. Small green leaves and flowers intermittently from July right up to the first frosts, with double bouclesy rose flowers with crimson sepals, makes it an eye catching addition to the boarder.

Roses are a delight when picked from the garden.
I hope I have inspired you to plant some Wow in your garden planting bed!
